Meg Ryan Helped Come Up With Her Infamous When Harry Met Sally Orgasm Scene

Meg Ryan Helped Come Up With Her Infamous When Harry Met Sally Orgasm Scene
When Harry Met Sally orgasm scene.

When Harry Met Sally’s restaurant orgasm scene is iconic, both within the context of the history of film and also Meg Ryan’s career. Now, 30 years after the release of the rom-com starring Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan, the movie is going to be celebrated with galas and even a Fathom Event.

If you can’t make those, however, the cast and director Rob Reiner recently joined together to talk about the iconic film, noting that now-infamous orgasm scene was partially a concoction of Meg Ryan's. According to Rob Reiner,

Meg was the one who said, ‘I’ll do it. I’ll actually do it.' The idea was we gotta have something that men don’t know about women because earlier where they’re in the plane together and Billy talked about after sex how a man feels and all that, and we were saying we need a counterpoint, and Meg said, ‘I’ll do it, I’ll just actually act it out. We don’t have to talk about it. I’ll do it.’ And I had the idea, ‘[It’ll be] in a restaurant!'

So, the orgasm scene in and of itself wasn’t Meg Ryan’s idea, but putting that scene in a very public place was chalked up to her influence, per the When Harry Met Sally director.

Previously, Bill Crystal told a similar story in which Meg Ryan had contributed the idea of the fake orgasm after Nora Ephron had mentioned women did this in real life. In his version however, the idea to do a fake orgasm was Ryan’s and the idea to do it in a restaurant was his.

Whatever the exact truth, it’s clear the When Harry Met Sally scene was pretty collaborative. Which may be one of the reasons it works so well in the final edit of the movie.

Rob Reiner went on to tell EW that wasn’t the only portion of the scene Meg Ryan contributed, however. After it was determined Meg Ryan would fake her orgasm opposite Billy Crystal at a restaurant, she had another brilliant idea...

She does a little thing at the end, which I didn’t tell her to do, she has a full-on orgasm and then she goes right back and she takes a little bite of coleslaw.

It’s a classic movie moment. Many of the people in the restaurant have turned around to stare at Sally while she has her orgasmic moment, when suddenly she stops and all is back to normal. She takes a bit of her coleslaw while Harry gives her a look.

Afterwards an extra –who we know was actually Rob Reiner’s own mother – utters a famous movie line: “I’ll have what she’s having.”

Since I’m sure you’d like to relive the “I’ll have what she’s having moment, you can watch the full scene below.

However it came about exactly, the orgasm scene is so notable, Meg Ryan’s son Jack Quaid learned about it young and purposefully waited until he was in his twenties to actually watch the scene. Because who wants to watch their mom having a fake orgasm, am I right?

For the record, if you think it’s weird he watched it at all, he says it was in preparation for a rom-com role.

Thirty years after it was first put to film, When Harry Met Sally is still thought of as one of the most iconic rom-coms created for the big screen. Whether it will live on in the minds of movie lovers for the next 30 years remains to be seen, but for now you can catch it on Blu-ray, DVD or Digital or wait for the Fathom Event this winter.

How Much The Predator Made On Opening Night

It's been eight years since the last film in the long-running Predator franchise, but audiences finally return to the hunt this weekend with the release of The Predator. Shane Black's relaunch is the biggest new release this weekend and it has been tracking to have the best opening weekend in the franchise. The Predator got a head start on its box office run last night, making $2.5 million in Thursday night preview screenings.

The Predator now has $2.5 million in the bank ahead of what is forecasted to be a $25-$30 million weekend, according to Deadline. That should give The Predator a decent shot at snagging first place at the box office. For comparison, the similarly R-rated Alien: Covenant posted $4.2 million from preview screenings ahead of a $36 million weekend. The best opening for a film with the Predator in it was Alien Vs. Predator, which made $38.2 million when it debuted in 2004, although it is up for debate whether that really counts as a Predator film. The best debut for a proper Predator film was Predators, which made $24.7 million opening weekend, a number The Predator is tracking to beat.

In a contest of killing prowess, the Predator has no equal, but at the box office, The Predator will be facing some stiff competition for the #1 spot in the form of The Nun. The Conjuring Universe film overcame bad reviews to set a record for that franchise last weekend, and it is still looking strong this weekend. The Nun is tracking to make around $25 million in the next few days, but The Predator is projected to edge it out at the box office.

This weekend has no shortage of R-rated fare with White Boy Rick and A Simple Favor also debuting. White Boy Rick, the Matthew McConaughey film based on a true story, made $575K in preview screenings last night and is tracking at around $8-$10 million for the weekend. A Simple Favor boasts the best reviews of this weekend's new releases and made $900K in previews on its way to a weekend that should fall somewhere in the mid-teens.

Thursday night's $2.5 million isn't a bad start for The Predator, and if it lives up to the tracking, it will be well on its way to recouping its $88 million budget. That The Predator is looking to perform this well speaks to the nostalgia for the franchise and audience desire for this kind of movie. There are a lot of internal and external forces that you might think would make matters more difficult for The Predator's box office prospects but they do not appear to be doing so. The sex offender controversy that popped up last week has become a story around the film, and even ignoring that unfortunate situation, The Predator is not doing particularly well critically, sitting at 34% on Rotten Tomatoes. That said, some people really dug it. There is also the fact the East Coast is dealing with Hurricane Florence, but it looks like The Predator doesn't mind a little rain.

The Predator is now playing. Check out what we thought of the film and head on over to our release guide to see all the biggest movies still coming this year.

Aladdin Hit A Box Office Milestone After Dethroning An X-Men Movie
2019 Aladdin Will Smith smiles genie

Mister Aladdin, sir, your wish came true! After the full four-day results came in, the 2019 Aladdin movie was confirmed to have cracked the top 5 Memorial Day weekend box office openings.

From Friday through Memorial Day, Aladdin made $116,805,962. That put it well past the previous #5 on the list, X-Men: Days of Future Past, which had a four-day opening of $110,576,604 in 2014. That also put Aladdin just a hair behind Fast & Furious 6. However, it was nowhere near the top three names on the Memorial Day weekend box office board -- X-Men: The Last Stand, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and #1, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End. Here are all of their opening weekend details.

Disney must be sighing with relief over Aladdin, which has already made close to $300 million worldwide without even counting this weekend's grosses. The 2019 Dumbo remake had a slower start, but Aladdin hit big out of the gate. Granted, it's not #1 in its second weekend. That honor is going to Godzilla: King of the Monsters. But even with competition from other new films, Aladdin is still expected to take second place over the May 31-June 2 weekend. Box Office Mojo predicts Aladdin will make about $38 million at the domestic box office this weekend, putting it at #2 ahead of Rocketman, Ma, and the #1 titles of a few weeks ago, John Wick 3 and Avengers: Endgame.

The original animated Aladdin came out in 1992, when movie prices were a lot different. But even with cheaper tickets, that movie made $504,050,219 worldwide -- split almost equally between the domestic box office and the foreign markets. The new Aladdin still has a long way to go if it wants to even come close to that take.

But fans have really embraced the 2019 Aladdin, which was not a given, enjoying new songs like Jasmine's "Speechless":

When it comes to the top Memorial Day weekends, X-Men: Days of Future Past might've lost its spot in the top 5, but X-Men: The Last Stand is still at #3, and X-Men Apocalypse is down at #12. Thanks to that track record of success, X-Men movies tend to like to open over Memorial Day weekend. X-Men: Dark Phoenix is something of an exception this year, albeit just by a couple of weeks. That movie opens this coming Friday, June 7.

Moving forward from Aladdin, Disney still has some massive potential hits ahead in 2019, including The Lion King remake, which could break the 2017 Beauty and the Beast's record for a remake opening. Stay tuned, and keep up with all of the release dates with our handy 2019 guide.

Pam Grier Accidentally Felt Up Samuel L. Jackson During A Jackie Brown Rehearsal

Pam Grier Accidentally Felt Up Samuel L. Jackson During A Jackie Brown Rehearsal

Acting often requires actors to get up close and personal with people they barely know, and because of that, uncomfortable situations can arise. Such was the case on the set of Quentin Tarantino's 1997 film Jackie Brown, where star Pam Grier accidentally felt up co-star Samuel L. Jackson. The Foxy Brown actress explained the awkward moment that happened in the scene where Jackie Brown has Ordell Robbie at gunpoint, saying:

See that gun? Well they wouldn't give me the gun while we were rehearsing, they only gave it to me when we did the scene... I had to use my hand to stick between his legs during rehearsal.

For insurance reasons, Pam Grier couldn't use the gun until actually filming the scene, so that necessitated her just using her hand as if she had a gun in it. In the scene, Ordell Robbie gets the tables turned on him and Jackie Brown, as the former puts it, has "a gun pressed up against my dick." To rehearse the placement of said gun and its proximity to Samuel L. Jackson's nether regions, Pam Grier had to put her hand between his legs and, well, she accidentally felt him up.

Pam Grier also explained to PeopleTV's Couchsurfing what happened when she accidentally felt up her co-star, saying:

I said, 'Sam, I'm sorry. Wow, I didn't know they were way down there. Okay, so thank you giving me that. I can't wait to use the gun. I won't miss.'

As if the situation wasn't awkward enough to begin with, Pam Grier's hilarious apology and 'thank you,' accompanied by a comment about the location about Samuel L. Jackson's private area, had to make the situation even more uncomfortable. This seemingly made Pam Grier eager to use the gun and film the actual scene, confident that she wouldn't miss the mark next time.

The actress also told Couchsurfing that Samuel L. Jackson's response to his co-star and '70s sex symbol Pam Grier's hand being in a place he didn't expect it to be was 'oh,' which seems appropriate. Although I would have liked the story to have included Samuel L. Jackson spouting a Samuel L. Jackson-ism in response to this situation, like "Hold on to your butts" or "This party's over" or something about the path of the righteous man.

If you're curious to see the actual scene Pam Grier is talking about, check out the clip from Jackie Brown below.

Watching the scene itself, you can see how Pam Grier's aim may have been a little off, especially if they were rehearsing the scene in the dark. Even if they weren't, her character is looking at Samuel L. Jackson's when she threatens him, so she sort of just had to make an educated guess where to put her hand.

Jackie Brown is arguably the forgotten Quentin Tarantino film, but it is probably worth revisiting, if just for the cast alone. Speaking of incredible casts, Quentin Tarantino's upcoming ninth film boasts arguably the auteur's most impressive yet. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood opens in theaters on July 26, 2019.

How Many Dune Movies Could Denis Villeneuve Potentially Make?

How Many Dune Movies Could Denis Villeneuve Potentially Make?
A Sandworm on the cover of Dune Messiah and Children of Dune

Warning: The following contains some SPOILERS for Frank Herbert’s Dune novels!

With fingers tightly crossed that there won’t be any delays, next year will see the release of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune. The Arrival, Blade Runner 2049 and Sicario filmmaker has become one of the industry’s most exciting directors, telling bold and visually striking stories each time out, and he has put together an incredible cast to bring Frank Herbert’s seminal 1965 sci-fi novel to the big screen for the first time since David Lynch’s 1984 adaptation.

A talented, Oscar-nominated filmmaker working with a talented cast to bring a beloved story to life is exciting in its own right, but there may be a lot more reason to get invested in Dune beyond merely next year’s movie. Dune could be the start of something that extends well past 2020.

That’s because Dune is not intended as just a one-off in the way other modern science fiction movies like Arrival, Interstellar or Looper were. Dune is meant to be the beginning of at least a 2-part series based on the property, which has an abundance of expansive source material. Which raises the question, how many Dune movies could Denis Villeneuve potentially make?

For a while now it has been said that Denis Villeneuve’s Dune is being envisioned as a 2-parter. The first movie will cover approximately the first half of Frank Herbert’s novel with the second movie covering the second half. It's a 2-movie model akin to the cinematic adaptations of other beloved novels like The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows and IT.

This approach makes sense so as to not shortchange the story. Dune is an expansive novel, and while David Lynch’s film covers the whole book, it is not an especially faithful adaptation. In contrast, the Dune mini-series on the then-Sci-fi Channel was a 3 episode, 4 hour and 25 minute telling of the story. Frank Herbert’s novel is extremely complex with tons of characters and moving pieces, not unlike Game of Thrones. So it is advantageous from a storytelling perspective to give the novel two films to tell the story of Paul Atreides.

However, unlike something like The Lord of the Rings, Dune parts one and two are not filming back to back. They will shoot individually, and presumably the second one getting made will hinge on the success of the first one. I’ve already written about what a financial gamble Dune might be so it’s not impossible that we only get one Denis Villeneuve Dune movie. But let’s air on the side of optimism and assume that Dune is great and a hit, what then? Denis Villeneuve has said that his goal is to make two films, maybe more.

That ‘maybe more’ coda opens up a whole range of possibilities where two films could give way to an entire series and franchise. Dune can be like Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope in terms of franchise potential; only here the story for more films already exists. Frank Herbert wrote six mainline Dune books before his death in 1986: Dune, Dune Messiah, Children of Dune, God Emperor of Dune, Heretics of Dune and Chapterhouse: Dune.

What starts as a hero’s journey to avenge his family, free his people and overthrow an evil empire morphs over time into a metaphysical family saga, rife with political intrigue and religious elements that is interstellar in scope, taking place over literally thousands of years. If Dune is Robert’s Rebellion against the Mad King, the rest of the series is A Song of Ice and Fire, what comes after happily ever after. And things get weird too; we’re talking half-human, half giant sandworm weird.

The series is considered to waver in quality from title to title, and there is a major question of ‘filmability’ with parts of the Dune saga and how well this challenging material will land with mass audiences, but based on the sheer amount of story from Frank Herbert’s six novels alone, Denis Villeneuve could do at least a few more movies after the Dune two-parter.

The most obvious way for this series to be adapted would be to only focus on the first three novels, Dune, Dune Messiah and Children of Dune. Those three novels take place in the same basic time period and follow many of the same characters. After that, there are massive time jumps. If that approach were taken, the series would theoretically require at least four movies, two for the first book and one each for the other two, unless somehow Messiah and Children were combined into one to form a tidy trilogy.

Only after those would it make sense to dig into the other novels. If it's successful, the mythology is dense enough to extend out even beyond Frank Herbert’s books. The author died after Chapterhouse: Dune and that novel ended with a cliffhanger, leaving some of the series’ story arcs unresolved. So years later, his son Brian Herbert and author Kevin J. Anderson used Frank Herbert’s notes to complete the saga with Hunters of Dune and Sandworms of Dune. If Dune became a full-fledged cinematic series going that far into the story, the films would have to incorporate some elements from these later books, if not adapt them outright to complete the story in a satisfying manner.

Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson also wrote several trilogies in the Dune universe with events that take place before Frank Herbert’s work or fit into the timeline of that 6-book narrative. The events of these books could serve as either a prequel series or they could be cherry-picked and elements from them could be added to the main series of films.

Legendary also has the TV rights to Dune, so maybe it could take some of the stories, either by Brian Herbert and Kevin J. Anderson or Frank Herbert himself, and put those into television series, to complement the films, similar to what was supposed to happen with The Dark Tower and what is happening with The Kingkiller Chronicle.

A successful franchise is what every company in Hollywood wants, and Dune could be one for Legendary and Warner Bros. Essentially, if the success is there, Denis Villeneuve could basically live in the Dune universe for as long as he wants, becoming for this property what David Yates is for Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts.

That said, how many Dune movies there will be and how many Denis Villeneuve will make may be two separate questions. If Denis Villeneuve makes two films and they are successful, maybe he decides to leave it at that, but Legendary keeps the franchise going with a new director or directors.

A lot is riding, on the success of Denis Villeneuve’s Dune, perhaps an entire franchise. So how many Dune movies could Denis Villeneuve potentially make? At least 1, maybe 2 and hopefully a lot more.

Dune opens on November 20, 2020. Check out our 2019 release schedule to keep track of all the movies heading to theaters this year.

Samuel L. Jackson Confirms Sequel The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard Is Finally In Production

Samuel L. Jackson Confirms Sequel The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard Is Finally In Production

We’re only two films in to Samuel L. Jackson’s especially stacked 2019 and the prolific actor is already hard at work making sure he’ll be lighting up the silver screen for years to come. In 2020, the actor will star in The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, the sequel to the 2017 action-comedy The Hitman’s Bodyguard, which starred Samuel L. Jackson and Ryan Reynolds. Now, the busy actor has confirmed The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard is finally in production. Take a look:

This image confirms The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard is now in production and shooting in Croatia, the European country where Game of Thrones spent so much time and that also served as Canto Bight in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. It may technically be work, but as you can see from Samuel L. Jackson’s Instagram photos, the picturesque country on the Adriatic Sea is lovely and definitely not a bad place to be filming a fun action movie.

Croatia won’t be the only place The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard shoots though. The sequel will also be filming in London and Italy, giving the action sequel even more international, European flavor after the first film shot in London, The Netherlands and Bulgaria. Ryan Reynolds’ Michael Bryce and Samuel L. Jackson’s Darius Kincaid won’t just be sightseeing or going on a vacation in Europe, they’ll actually be trying to save it.

The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard will find Michael Bryce attempting to live a peaceful life after the events in the last film where notorious hitman Darius Kincaid and his wife, Salma Hayek’s Sonia, drag him in to their mission to cause chaos on Italy’s Amalfi Coast that is somehow meant to help save Europe. Needless to say, Ryan Reynolds’ character will once again find himself with a difficult job and even more difficult clients.

The first Hitman’s Bodyguard earned $176.6 million worldwide back in 2017, sitting atop the domestic box office for three straight weeks from August to early September. On a modest $30 million budget, that made it a big enough of a hit to warrant a sequel, a sequel that looks to be upping the ante by putting together an impressive cast.

In addition to the delightful returning cast of Samuel L. Jackson, Ryan Reynolds, Salma Hayek and Richard E. Grant, The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard will also star Antonio Banderas, Frank Grillo and, in his first ever film with Samuel L. Jackson, Morgan Freeman. The sequel also recently added Tom Hopper, who you may know from Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy, Starz’ Black Sails or as the riotously named Dickon Tarly in Game of Thrones.

The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard is expected to arrive in theaters in 2020. There’s plenty to see before then though and you can check it all out in our 2019 release schedule. Stay tuned to CinemaBlend for all the latest movie news.

How Michael Dougherty Came Up With Those Godzilla: King Of The Monsters End Credit Scenes

How Michael Dougherty Came Up With Those Godzilla: King Of The Monsters End Credit Scenes
King Ghidorah roaring on volcano

Spoiler Warning: We dish on the ending of Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Come back after you've seen the movie!

Fans of monster movies were treated to Godzilla: King of the Monsters this weekend. Like many blockbusters these days, King of the Monsters has two end-credits scenes for fans to enjoy. The first one plays out over the credits, in which a montage of news headlines hit the screen, teasing the aftermath of Godzilla's battle with King Ghidorah. It's an interesting way to convey information, and director Michael Dougherty told CinemaBlend that it was an idea that came up to show audiences that everything was still okay after the movie.

In King of the Monsters, Godzilla goes head-to-head against King Ghidorah, a rival apex predator seeking to control all the other Titans in the world. This shouldn't be a shocker, but Godzilla takes back his throne. To make sure that audiences knew that Godzilla wasn't going to just wreck shop with all his Titan pals now, Michael Dougherty used "headlines of the day" to tease how the world is reacting to the aftermath.

Here's what director Michael Dougherty told CinemaBlend Senior Video Producer Jeff McCobb in an exclusive video interview:

No, I think that idea came during post-production. The idea that it would be nice to just give us a slight glimpse into what the aftermath of that ending was. And also just to calm any fears that it means we're entering some kind of post-apocalyptic monster-dominated world. That's not the case. You know, with Godzilla returning to his place on the throne, I really like the idea that he would sort of keep things at a proper balance.

The headlines in question reveal that Godzilla is a benevolent king. While some of these headlines are blink-and-you-miss-them, the general sense is that the world is recovering in the aftermath of Godzilla's showdown with Ghidorah. In fact, some parts of the world are thriving, but I won't reveal any specifics as to why. You'll just have to see the movie!

Also, here's a friendly reminder to stick around until the end of the credits. There's a post-credits scene that you probably don't want to miss.

If you'd like to hear these words from Michael Dougherty himself, check out our exclusive interview with the director and actor Ken Watanabe in the video below.

Critics have been ragging pretty hard on Godzilla: King of the Monsters, but if you like giant monsters and really rad fights, then you don't want to miss this movie. The film is currently in theaters, so check it out when you can! For all of the other big movies that will be hitting theaters in the near future, be sure to take a look at our 2019 movie release guide.

Fifty Shades Scenes That Weren't Sexy To Film In Real Life

Fifty Shades Scenes That Weren't Sexy To Film In Real Life
Fifty Shades Freed Ice Cream Scene

It’s been a little over a year since Universal released the final movie in the Fifty Shades trilogy, Fifty Shades Freed. We’ve said our big screen goodbyes to Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele and author E.L. James has moved on to a different book series. However, the fascination surrounding the “kinky fuckery” between the two characters has not particularly waned.

As Fifty Shades of Grey, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed were released, we’ve learned plenty about the ins and outs of making these romantic films and to be honest, a lot of times the scenes weren’t so sexy in real life.

In particular, we hate to burst your bubble if you were a fan of Fifty Shades Freed’s big ice cream scene, but don’t take it from me...

That Ice Cream Scene

If you caught Fifty Shades Freed, you’ve already seen a moment between Christian and Ana when she’s looking for ice cream in the kitchen. He ends up thrusting his partner onto a table in the kitchen and uses it for some naughty play.

As it turns out, however, Jamie Dornan wouldn’t recommend it. He told NBC that the scene may have made ice cream more popular but it hasn’t made ice cream more popular with him.

It might help the sale of ice cream after Freed. I wouldn’t recommend that myself; I think it was quite sticky. It gets dry and sticky quite quickly, the icec ream. I wasn’t a big fan of it.

In addition, in order to amp up the sexy factor, the scene actually shot at night, meaning both Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson were tired, trying to pretend they were engaging in a super stimulating shot and basically just dealing with getting dirty in the process. According to Jamie Dornan, that’s all in a days work, however. He said:

It was a bit of a palavar in real life. Messy and cold and I think we shot that as a night shoot. It was the middle of the night. We were tired. Who cares for us as long as it sort of looks sexy in the final thing. Who cares? I can go shower at home.

So, yeah. Ice cream 1, actors 0 after that scene.

Gluing On Underwear

Being naked onscreen generally doesn’t involve actually being naked onscreen. Both Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson have talked about wearing modesty underwear while filming sex scenes—Dornan even calls his a “wee bag”—however, it’s Dakota Johnson’s modesty thong that sounds particularly uncomfortable.

The actress previously revealed she actually had to glue the dang thing on with a sticky substance to keep her private parts from showing on set for everyone to see. It didn’t work all the time. As she put it:

Oh yeah, Jamie's little pouch. It's super not glamorous--it's really unsexy. He wore that, and I had these sort of strapless thongs that had glue on them. It's not glue, but it's sticky. They're, like, basically if it were a nipple pastie, but underwear. But it's only sticky at the top, it's not sticky the whole way. It would also come off because the adhesive would wear out, so then they would superglue it to my body so that it wouldn't fall off.

Yes, they would sometimes superglue the modesty thong to her body in order to make it work, as Tim Gunn would say. Yikes.

Anything With A Whip

Ahead of the release of Fifty Shades of Grey, Jamie Dornan was happy to talk about the odd types of training he had to do for the movie, which involved working at learning to use the whip for scenes. It’s a skill set he told Variety he is not talented at, leading those scenes to be decidedly unsexy on set.

In fact, to illustrate this point, he even compared whip usage to fly fishing.

There’s probably a technique to using a whip, I wasn’t talented at it. But I got there in the end. It’s really like fly fishing.

The director of the first film, Sam Taylor-Johnson, even tried her hardest to keep the actor from harming himself and others on the Vancouver set. She also said:

Jamie, how can you make something so straightforward so hard? Why would you pick [the whip] up like that? I think there was a bit of rope burn. I’d have to remind Jamie to hold back with the crop.

Would you rather be sticky with ice cream or dealing with rope burn for several days? As Dornan said about Fifty Shades Freed, with the ice cream, at least you can always shower.

The Wedding Scene

Love can be really sexy, so it was surprising to learn that Christian and Ana's nuptials were anything but for those filming. Faking a wedding apparently was just as goofy and off-putting as some of the other stuff Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan had to do on set. In fact, the two kept dissolving into giggles, which made shooting the Fifty Shades Freed wedding scene particularly challenging. According to Jamie Dornan's account of filming,

It's very strange saying vows to someone when it's not real. When we were rehearsing it, we were sort of giggling quite a lot, because it just seemed so silly. But then, obviously, by the time the cameras were rolling we were in character and it was fun.

Dakota Johnson looked more fabulous than she looked sexy in this scene anyway, and while I personally dig Jamie Dornan in a suit, I think most people probably prefer the Dornan of the shirtless variety, at least in these films. Still, due to the nature of the scene and how it stood out in stark contrast to some of the other scenes, the wedding ranks highly in unsexy scenes to film. At least this one wasn't sticky.

In addition, this one was decidedly more difficult to shoot than you might guess, especially considering the scenes appear at the very beginning of the film, before the couple can really get into any hanky panky on their honeymoon.

While leads Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson have continued to do press for new projects in the time since Fifty Shades Freed hit theaters -- A Private War and Robin Hood in Dornan’s case and Suspiria and Bad Times at the El Royale in Johnson’s case -- they still get plenty of questions about the four+ years they spent playing a kinky couple. I’m sure we’ll learn much more regarding the ins and outs of the Fifty Shades films in the time moving forward, and we’ll be here every step of the way.

In the meantime, you can learn about the new project E.L. James will be embarking on next with our full guide.

Black Panther Is About To Cross A Major Box Office Milestone

Black Panther Is About To Cross A Major Box Office Milestone

If you count Black Panther's Thursday night preview domestically last week, the latest venture from Marvel has been out for just around a week now. Anyone keeping track of the film's progress should already know that it doing quite well, and now, despite its limited time in theaters, Black Panther is actually about to hit a box office milestone: The flick is about ready to pass the half billion dollar mark at the box office.

That's right, in just a week Black Panther is about to make $500 million dollars. That's nine figures, and a pretty enticing nine figures, too. Of course, we need to point out that this is global gross that we are talking about and not domestic. Through Wednesday, the movie has made $491 million worldwide, with the international numbers hopping up to nearly $24 million. The movie already made over $200 million during the extended President's Day weekend. Although movies often drop 50% or higher during the second weekend in theaters, even if Black Panther's box office drops by that percentage, the numbers should remain high.

Deadline is also noting that the way Black Panther has been released seemingly contributed to this milestone. A lot of times movies come out on different weekends internationally and domestically. When that happens, even high-grossing movies will take a little more time to reach the $500 million mark. Marvel movies, including Avengers: Age of Ultron, usually follow this pattern, but this time _Black Panthe_r was released during the same week both domestically an internationally. The end result is that the overall box office numbers have hit really high marks really fast.

There are a number of theories regarding why Black Panther has been so successful -- even when compared with other Marvel solo movies. This includes the cultural moment the movie is having and the unprecedented success of some big budget movies during this quarter in recent years. Whatever the reason(s), Black Panther is seeing really high numbers, and without a ton of competition (although there are some interesting flicks) coming up, those numbers should stay high in the coming weeks.

As of the time of this writing Black Panther hasn't quite squeaked past the $500 million mark--or at least the numbers haven't been tallied yet. Still, it's imminent, it is expected to happen today and it is quite a big deal. This is a movie that saw presales higher than any other superhero movie that has come out so far. It's a movie that is certainly having a moment, and the numbers reflect that. You can currently catch Marvel's Black Panther in theaters, or if you've already seen it, you can read more about the making of the movie here.
